Zhuhai Top Print closes doors

Following the retirement of one of the partners, Zhuhai Top-Print Technology Co has recently closed with the loss of 800 jobs.
Established in 2010 the Zhuhai based company produced around 6 million STMC certified compatible laser cartridges, printer parts, printing inks and other supplies from their 30,000 m2 facility. The Partner and CEO Olina retired recently, and the retirement culminated in the closure of the factory. Among the Zhuhai imaging community, Olina was held in high regard “Olina is a very good CEO of TOP PRINT and took the company forward” one competitor commented.
The private limited company is thought to have an annual turnover in the region of $1 billion and thirty production lines produced compatible monochrome and colour printer consumables for use in Brother, Canon, Epson, HP, Lexmark, Samsung and Xerox printers with most of their products exported to around 80 countries. Analysis of their last 220 international shipments shows that the USA (60%), India (36%) and South America (4%).
China went into lockdown in January when the coronavirus first emerged. However, as the pandemic spread, the demand for printer consumables has declined. Research, commissioned by The Recycler, suggests that the need for laser consumables has fallen 60% since the beginning of February. In contrast, the demand for inkjet has increased by 30% in the same period.
Mr Beck, a co-owner told The Recycler “A group of like-minded technical and salespeople who had more than 10-15 years experience of [the] imaging industry and I have created a new company, Zhuhai Enlite Technology co. Ltd to continue to support customers. We own or jointly own a couple of specialized factories that produce top quality in their field of toner cartridges, inkjet cartridges, and bulk ink to provide a one-stop solution for our customers.”
