Zhono releases new technical article
September 25, 2024
The company has published the latest technical article, discussing autocalibration for HP W9050A chips.
One of Zhono’s customers reported that when installing an HP W9050A chip in the copier, the message [Calibrating…] appears. However, since this message does not appear with every chip installation, the customer believed there was a chip issue when there was not a chip issue.
Zhono explains that when a new HP W9050A chip is installed, the copier will automatically initiate calibration. This is a feature of the corresponding model copiers and not related to chips.
Autocalibration in printers and copiers, also known as automatic colour calibration or print optimisation, is a technology aimed at improving print quality and consistency. This feature works by automatically adjusting printer settings to ensure that the printed output matches the original document or image as closely as possible in terms of colour, contrast, and sharpness.
The autocalibration function is crucial for enhancing printer performance and user satisfaction.
If the copier does not display the prompt [Calibrating…] after installing the chip, Zhono says reasons could be that the chip is not a new one or the chip is not equipped with the autocalibration feature.
Zhono added: “Not all HP W9050A chips in the market have the autocalibration function. Our engineers tested OEM chips, Zhono chips, and chips from other manufacturers. It turns out that OEM and Zhono chips were consistent, both featuring the autocalibration function, and so the copier displayed the prompt [Calibrating…]. (See Figure 1.)”
