Zhono navigates latest HP firmware update
October 25, 2022
HP’s firmware update released earlier in October has caused problems with aftermarket cartridges, but Zhono has overcome the issues and released an upgraded chip.
On October 20, 2022, HP released the latest firmware (the latest firmware numbers: 20221010 and 20221018) which upgraded the HP CF500 series colour printers.
The firmware upgrade caused prompts to display on the screen of the printers with the new firmware version (see figures 1 and 2) .
Note: The Canon printers that use the same technology are not impacted by this upgrade.
Zhono said: “To guarantee our customers can continue to use our chips effectively, Zhono’s R&D team and engineering team worked hard and overcame difficulties and have managed to upgrade the compatible chips for the HP CF500/510 series within four hours.”
Zhono said it tested and verified the upgraded compatible chips for the HP CF500/510 series work normally on the printers with the latest firmware (see figure 3). Zhono’s upgraded chips are now available to ship.
The models involved in the firmware upgrade are shown in the figure below.
Note: Zhono suggests that you turn off the [Auto Upgrade] function of the printers.
