Your Brother printer might not work with Windows 11

The company recommends not to upgrade to Windows 11 due to problems occurring with its inkjet and laser printers unable to print while connected via USB.

Windows announced its new operating system version in June this year with a warning that some older printers might not be supported.

One of the brands affected is Brother who published support documents for their inkjet and laser printers that may not be able to connect to a Windows 11 computer using a USB cable.

As a result, the OEM said it is now checking the compatibility with Windows 11 for all of the listed devices. Brother said the list is regularly updated as and when results can be published.

Brother also announced that USB-connected printers will not be able to communicate with various printing utilities in Windows 11, including:

  • Device Settings Tool
  • Paper Size Setup Tool
  • Distributed Print Tool
  • Special ID Setting Tool
  • Wireless Setup Wizard
  • P-Touch Editor 5.4
  • Update Software
  • Transfer Manager
  • Transfer Express
  • Template Settings
  • Printer Setting Tool

Users affected by this issue might be able to use the devices with a different connection like Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection.
