Xerox nixes Everyday rumour

December 18, 2024

A good rumour a day keeps everyone talking but keeps the facts at bay: Xerox commits to expanding its Everyday Toner offerings.

The company has firmly addressed speculation surrounding the potential withdrawal of Xerox’s Everyday Toner range from European markets. A recent rumour from a highly placed source with knowledge of the range suggested that compliance challenges might prompt Xerox to discontinue its range of remanufactured and newly built consumables designed for non-Xerox printers.

However, the company has confirmed its commitment to maintaining and expanding the range.

In a statement provided to us, a Xerox spokesperson clarified the company’s position:

“As part of our ongoing commitment to providing versatile and reliable solutions for our clients, Xerox is working to expand the ranges of its Everyday Toner and Everyday Remanufactured Toner offerings in the coming months. These expansions are an effort to support more non-Xerox printers, as we have done throughout 2024.

Xerox has a strong heritage of developing technologies that reduce the environmental impact of document systems and business processes and our commitment to sustainability remains unwavering. For more details on our environmental initiatives, please visit our Environment, Health, Safety website, where you can find comprehensive information about our efforts and achievements in this area.”

The Everyday Toner range was introduced as a cost-effective alternative to OEM consumables, offering savings of up to 60% and a lifetime warranty. While compliance and sustainability remain central to Xerox’s strategy, the company’s confirmation of upcoming expansions underscores its dedication to meeting the needs of customers across diverse printing platforms.

However, questions about compliance with European regulations have emerged. In a recent investigation by ETIRA (European Toner & Inkjet Remanufacturers Association), a Xerox Everyday product was identified as non-compliant with EU standards. The investigation highlighted concerns about non-OEM cartridges lacking CE markings and proper registrations, which pose risks to public health and sustainability. These findings underscore the challenges faced by manufacturers in aligning their offerings with increasingly stringent regulatory requirements.

Xerox’s commitment to sustainability and compliance will likely be scrutinised more closely as it expands its Everyday range. The company’s ability to balance cost-effective solutions with adherence to EU standards remains critical to its ongoing success in competitive markets like Europe.
