The American chemical manufacturer and ink producer has been praised for its improved environmental record.
The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) has awarded Sun Chemical its Bronze Performance Improvement Award at the recent 96th Annual SOCMA Meeting and Member Dinner.
The award recognises the company’s improvement to its environmental, health, safety, and security (EHS&S) performance at its Bushy Park, South Carolina facility, as well as its efforts to go ‘above and beyond’ the federal requirements for EHS&S compliance, employee training, and engagement.
The chemical manufacturer and producer of printing inks, coatings, and supplies also participates in SOCMA’s ChemStewards programme, that encourages companies to operate facilities in an environment that promotes compliance with safety and environmental/chemical security to all of its stakeholders.
Jennifer Abril, the President and CEO of SOCMA, said: “Congratulations to Sun Chemical and its employees on this achievement. As speciality chemical manufacturers, it is incumbent upon companies to be good environmental stewards and create a culture at their facilities that will ensure the safety and security of their employees and community in which they live.”
“We are extremely proud of the hard work our employees have done to promote environmental, health and safety at all of our facilities,” announced Sun Chemical’s Corporate Vice President of Environmental Affairs, Gary Andrzejewski, “This ward reflects our commitment to constant improvement for our products, our workers, and our neighbours in the community.”
“Sun Chemical has gone above and beyond to demonstrate its commitment to improving EHS&S efforts through participation in the ChemStewards Performance Improvement Program,” added Abril. “We commend you on a job well done.”
