Static Control offers advice on warranty rights

Mar 27, 2019 | 0 comments

The company has been explaining warranty rights and assuring customers that Static Control cartridges will not void a printer manufacturer’s warranty.

As Static Control reveals, a printer manufacturer’s warranty “promises to take care of any covered repairs during a predefined time period, provided that you maintain the printer.” However, as with any contract, the company continues, “it can be broken if you fail to follow the instructions provided by the printer’s original equipment manufacturer” so it is important to be aware of “what circumstances can void your printer’s warranty.”

Static Control explains, “Use of aftermarket parts like compatible toner cartridges does not void the OEM’s warranty as long as the aftermarket part does not damage the printer.”

The company also assures customers that Static Control compatible cartridges will not damage their printers, and that it has “long been a myth in the imaging industry that using an aftermarket cartridge will void a printer’s warranty.”

By law, assures Static Control, no printer manufacturer can take away a user’s rights to use the cartridge of their choice. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act “protects the consumer’s right to choose.”

The company concludes, “It is illegal for a printer manufacturer to stipulate what brand of cartridge may be used in the printer.”
