Static Control and Aster reach settlement
June 15, 2018
Static Control has reached a settlement with Aster Graphics.
Almost a year ago, in July 2017, Static Control filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Aster Graphics in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Now, in new legal documents viewed by The Recycler, it has been revealed that Aster Graphics and Static Control have reached a settlement, asserting Static Control’s ownership rights to United States Patent No. 9,599,949 and United States Patent No. 9,671,742, which Aster has agreed are “valid and enforceable.”
As a result of the settlement agreement, Aster and its associates “are permanently enjoined from importing, manufacturing, selling or offering to sell” any of the accused products. The patents concerned related to dongle gear designs which were used in Canon and HP laser cartridges.
This settlement has been reached after much legal wrangling between the two companies, consisting of a toing and froing of claims and counterclaims.
