Sharp’s profits recovered from Q2

In its latest released consolidated financial results, Sharp said that its profits recovered from Q2 across all three segments.

For the third quarter of fiscal year 2020, Sharp recorded overall net sales of ¥673.4 billion ($6.17 billion/ €5.17), a year-on-year increase of 6.3%. Operating profit rose by 21.3% year-on-year to ¥32.3 billion ($296.17 million/ €248.24 million).

Net sales for the 8K Ecosystem segment, which includes Sharp’s printers, were ¥337.9 billion ($3.1 billion/ €2.59 billion), a 4.2% increase year-on-year. Profit for the third quarter in the segment was recoded at ¥7.4 billion ($68 million/ €57 million).

Sharp said that although it still was feeling the impact of COVID-19 and experienced “component bottlenecks” it saw steady progress in profit recovery, although there was a decrease in MFP print volume.
