Sharp reports increased sales

The company reported its third quarter and nine months consolidated financial result, showing increased net sales and profit.
For the nine months period that ended 31 December 2021, Sharp recorded net sales of ¥1,894 billion ($16.41 billion/ €14.39 billion), an increase of 4.2% year-on-year. Operating profit was also up 3% at ¥63.8 billion ($553 million/ €485 million), compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.
For the same period, Sharp’s 8K Ecosystem segment, which includes its printers, recorded sales of ¥425 billion ($3.68 billion/ €3.23 billion), up 19.6% year-on-year.
Net sales for the third quarter of fiscal year 2021 were ¥675.8 billion ($5.86 billion/ €5.13 billion), up 0.4% year-on-year. For the company’s 8K Ecosystem segment for the three months period, net sales were ¥148.9 billion ($1.3 billion/ €1.13 billion), an increase of 16.9% year-on-year.
Sharp reported that overall MFP sales grew in Europe and the Americas, as well as seeing an increase in print volumes. The company was also impacted by logistics bottlenecks for shipments to Europe and the Americas.
In light of the third quarter results, Sharp has revised its full year 2021 forecasts to slightly lower the expected full year results.
