Sales drop, profits rise for Toshiba

The OEM has published its latest financial results, for the second quarter of the current financial year (ending June the 30th).
Net sales for the period suffered a drop from last year, coming in at ¥114.4 billion ($1.03 billion/€888 million), 1.1 percent down from ¥115.6 billion ($1.04 billion/€897.3 million) in 2017.
However, there was rosier news in the company’s operating profit, which totalled ¥4.26 billion ($38.3 million/€33.06 million), an increase of 26.9 percent from last year’s figure of ¥3.36 billion ($30.2 million/€26.08 million).
The company’s ordinary profit also increased, by 9.9 percent year-on-year, rising from ¥3.05 billion ($27.4 million/€23.6 million) in the equivalent period last year to ¥3.35 billion ($30.1 million/€26 million) in 2018.
