Ricoh UK and Agilico push sustainable print

Ricoh has deepened its relationship with Agilico Workplace Technology in a partnership focused on driving sustainability and circular economy practices in the UK’s managed print sector.

Under Agilico’s Zero programme, the company refurbishes low-usage and ex-showroom Ricoh multifunctional devices (MFDs) at local, purpose-built facilities.

Each refurbished unit is restored to as-new condition, with Agilico guaranteeing high performance while preventing over 500kg of CO? emissions per device. All parts are reused or repurposed, ensuring nothing goes to landfill.

The initiative forms a cornerstone of Agilico’s ambition to reach net zero by 2030.

“One big problem currently is that 70% of end-of-life devices in the UK are exported, increasing carbon emissions and contributing to more devices being sent into landfill, and that’s just wrong!” said Warren Colby, Managing Director – Agile Print Technology, Agilico. “We now want a different way of working and that’s to extend the life of devices. We understand the challenge of shifting traditional approaches, but the environmental benefits, combined with the ability to extend the life of lightly used devices, make it the right decision for clients and suppliers alike.”

Ricoh’s Director of Partner Channel, Rowan Jeffreys-Hoar, added: “We work together beyond the traditional supplier/vendor setup – it is a true partnership with Ricoh playing a role beyond simply supplying Agilico with technology. I am delighted that we’re able to help Agilico achieve their ambitious net zero goals through this project.

“Through the Agilico Zero programme, we hope to give thousands of multifunctional devices a new lease of life. By extending the life of these barely used machines, we aim to significantly reduce electronic waste and contribute to a truly circular economy – one of the key pillars of our ESG strategy.”
