Ricoh receive Red Cross honour
March 28, 2018
Ricoh’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) drive has been honoured by the American Red Cross as a Ready 365 Giving Circle Gold level member for 2018.
Through the OEM’s own personalised donation micro-site, employees donated over $23,000 (€18,500) to those worldwide affected by natural disasters last year. The Ricoh Americas Foundation also made a donation to the Red Cross, which helped provide those affected by the disasters with over 9.7 million meals and snacks, and more than 1.3 million stays in overnight shelters.
The honour was announced at the beginning of Red Cross Month, which has taken place every March since 1943, and is designed to celebrate and pay thanks to those who have helped the American Red Cross throughout the preceding year. As well as its disaster relief initiatives, Ricoh has been holding local blood drives as various locations across the US.
“In today’s world, it’s increasingly important for companies to act as global citizens and to encourage their employees to do the same,” said Donna Venable, the Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Deputy General Manager of Shared Services at Ricoh Americas. “The idea of contributing positively to the wellbeing of society is ingrained in Ricoh’s DNA, and we refer to it as the Ricoh Way. I’m grateful that our employees are always ready to assist those in need, and I’m honoured the American Red Cross recognized their efforts by making the company a Red Cross Ready 365 Giving Circle member.”
The bestowal follows previous recognition of the OEM for its CSR efforts, including being named as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year, and being named Most Environmentally Responsible Company of the Year at the Best in Biz Awards.
