February 17, 2023
Ricoh Group said it will support the global humanitarian relief following Türkiye and Syria earthquake.
The Ricoh Group offers its deepest sympathies to those affected by the earthquake that struck Türkiye and Syria on 6 February 2023. To support the global humanitarian relief, Ricoh said it is making the following contributions:
- A ¥12 million ($89,000/ €84,000) donation. This supports the work of Japan Platform, an international emergency humanitarian aid non-profit organisation, to be utilised for food and supplies such as blankets, tents, and hygiene products for those affected. The donation also supports the efforts of Ahbap, a charity in Türkiye which provides aid in social and environmental responses.
In addition, FreeWill, Ricoh’s Japan-based employee-led endeavour for social contribution activities, will make a ¥0.5 million ($3,700/ €3,500) donation for medical support and supplies to Peace Winds Japan, a non-governmental organisation that supports people affected by humanitarian crises and livelihood crises.
- Launch of employee donation programme through partnership with international non-governmental organisation Save the Children Japan. This programme enables Ricoh employees in Japan to personally contribute humanitarian aid to affected children in the area. Ricoh group companies across the world are also undertaking initiatives to support the humanitarian crisis. This includes Ricoh working with the TOG Educational Foundation in Türkiye to support children in affected areas with their schooling needs.
The company added: “Ricoh wishes for a swift recovery and will continue its efforts in humanitarian support based on its founding principles, the “Spirit of Three Loves” of “Love your neighbour, Love your country, Love your work”.”
