The company has released a notice stating that media reports of the company purchasing Fujitsu’s scanner business did not come from the company itself and is only a consideration and no decision has been made yet.
On 25 April, Nikkei Asia reported that Ricoh is purchasing an 80% stake in Fujitsu’s subsidiary Ishikawa-based PFU. The purchase would see a transaction of ¥80 billion ($625 million/ €584 million) for Ricoh to incorporate the scanner technology into its imaging equipment.
However, in response to the media reports, Ricoh released the following statement: “Some media outlets including the Nikkei reported on the share acquisition of PFU, Inc. by Ricoh Company, Ltd. However, it has not been announced by the Company.
“No decision has been made at this moment, although Ricoh is considering this matter.
“If we need to make any announcements in this regard, we will do so in a timely manner.”
