Reactions to Paperworld cancellation
January 10, 2022
The industry responds to the news that Paperworld 2022 was cancelled last week as a result of the rapidly changing covid situation.
Last week (5th January) Messe Frankfurt took the decision to cancel the 2022 show because of the ongoing COVID-19 situation given the exponential worsening of the pandemic worldwide and the accompanying tightened travel and contact regulations.
Taking to social media ETIRA Secretary-General, Vincent van Dijk, said: “ETIRA very much regrets that our industry is again prevented from meeting each other in person. We do however understand the decision taken by Messe Frankfurt, and we look forward to meeting at some point in the future”.
Static Control had planned a large presence at the show and were “saddened at the decision to cancel the Paperworld 2022. However, the company respects and understands the show organizer’s difficult decision, as it is of the utmost importance to put the safety of attendees first during these difficult times.”
“We look forward to Paperworld every year as a unique opportunity to meet with customers and network with those in our industry, and hopefully we can return to that safely at the 2023 show,” said Static Control CEO Ken Lalley.
Customers who want to meet face-to-face are advised to contact their dedicated Static Control sales representative so that: “As soon as restrictions are lifted, we plan to schedule in-person meetings with those interested,” said Lalley. “As the world recovers, we hope to host dedicated Static Control events to meet with both customers and prospects because we have many exciting things to share, such as our first-to-market W series of cartridges and our improved Customer Portal e-commerce platform. Until then, we want everyone to continue to remain safe and healthy until we can meet again.”
Another exhibitor, who didn’t want to be named [for fear of his partner finding out?] said “It’s a shame, but I hope some of the budget can come to me so that I can do more travelling.”
“We had planned a trip to the show and to catch up with customers in France and Germany on the way. But the good news is I can watch the football on the Saturday.
Editor: I am a show junkie, and shows are a great face to face experience to talk with people and find out about them, their businesses and what they think about the market and plan follow-up meetings and visits. But hey, ho, it’s back to zoom we go!
Planning for The Recycler Live event in Prague this May is well in hand and more details will be published soon.
Information on the planning of the Frankfurt consumer goods fairs for 2023 will be announced at the beginning of February 2022.
