Pollution problems posed by printer cartridges
May 8, 2018
The latest plastic pollution infographic released by Clover Imaging Group explores the impact of discarded printer cartridges on the environment.
The infographic explains that over 400 million empty ink and toner cartridges are discarded on a yearly basis, with the majority of these fetching up in landfill. Here they can take anywhere between 450 and 1000 years to decompose.
As they do so, they can sometimes become toxic, with the infographic revealing that “Lingering contamination of the ecosystem will remain long after the release of such substances.”
CIG concluded the infographic by encouraging consumers to use cartridge recycling programs “to recycle your empty cartridges and keep them out of landfills.”
