Penketh Group acquires office supply business
January 8, 2018
The company has purchased the Wirral-based photocopier and office supplies business, Currie Business Services.
As BQ reports, Penketh Group, which also has its head office in Wirral in addition to a Manchester-based showroom, has announced the acquisition of Currie Business Services. As well as purchasing the business, Penketh Group has added Currie’s 6 employees to its 80-strong staff.
This acquisition comes after “another successful year” for Penketh Group, which has seen its revenues grow to £12.5m (€14.118m).
Currie Business Services was launched in 1991 by Brian and David Currie, serving customers scattered across North Wales, Cheshire and Merseyside. Its photocopier business “will continue to trade under the Currie name”, while its other services will transfer to the Penketh Group.
Mark Penketh, managing director of Penketh Group, said: “Our two businesses have a very similar ethos and were a natural fit when the opportunity came along to acquire Currie.
“We had an existing photocopier division in our business but Currie’s moves us to another level, particularly in terms of engineering excellence.
“This is the latest strategic acquisition for Penketh Group following our purchase of Manchester Office Supplies earlier this year.
“Our goal is to become a £20m turnover business by 2020 by providing our customers with a modern, diverse, knowledgeable and flexible offering. We have made significant progress in the last 12 months and have further plans to accelerate our growth plan over the coming months.”
Brian Currie said: “We are pleased to pass the reins of our company on to Penketh Group, a business that started out like ourselves as a family business and which shares common values and goals.”
