Pedal-powered opening for Denner UK
September 6, 2024
Ultra-cyclist Philipp Kaider combined endurance and environmental advocacy in a remarkable journey to bring the keys.
Philipp Kaider, an Austrian ultra-cyclist and world record holder, recently completed a 1,860 km journey from the Denner Group facility in Laa an der Thaya, Austria, to London. The 13-day ride was a test of physical endurance and a symbolic mission to deliver the key to the new Denner UK facility in London. Kaider’s journey was part of a broader environmental campaign, as he collected empty printer cartridges along the way to raise awareness about recycling and sustainability.
Starting in Laa an der Thaya, Kaider cycled through various European cities, where he talked about his experiences and the significance of environmental responsibility. You can find out more about the journey here.
This initiative is another example of Kaider’s unique approach to ultra-cycling, merging athleticism with advocacy. Supported by sponsors like Denner UK, Kaider continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in endurance sports while promoting causes close to his heart.
After the 13-day journey, the team celebrated the launch of Denner UK’s brand-new collection centre with a small but significant opening ceremony attended by staff from the Denner Group. UK Branch Manager Mike Berry, Denner UK’s dedicated team of 20 employees and Michael Müller, the Austrian Trade Attaché, attended the opening.
No opening is complete without a speech or two. Gottfried Denner, the CEO of the Denner Group expressed the company’s pleasure that they had secured the warehouse and offices and the business could now move forward. He also used an excellent long distance cycling metaphor: “Denner UK is at the start of a long journey, not a sprint.”
Michael Müller, the Austrian Trade Attaché, attended the opening and was pleased to have been able to help. The Austrian Embassy in London works with around 300 Austrian businesses with facilities in the UK that are typically family run business champions who do it well and consistently.
Strategically positioned at Unit 26, SEGRO Park Greenford Central, UB6 8UJ, the facility offers superb connectivity, mere minutes from Heathrow Airport, and seamlessly linked to the M4, M40, and M25 motorways. Under the leadership of Branch Manager Mike Berry, Denner UK’s team is just one final warehouse sort away from taking the business forward.
The Denner Group is a leading European company in the office imaging sector, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and customer service. With a strong presence across the continent, Denner Group integrates environmentally responsible practices into its operations while expanding its reach and influence in the retail sector. The new London facility marks another step in its strategic growth and dedication to serving customers efficiently and sustainably.
