Pantum sued for patent breach

Pantum International has been sued by Cedar Lane Technologies, alleging a breach of several of their patents.
Cedar Lane Technologies Inc. (Cedar Lane) filed the patent infringement complaint against Pantum International Limited (Pantum), alleging a breach of the following Cedar Lane patents:
- US patent 6,473,527 (the “527” patent), entitled “Module and method for interfacing analog/digital converting means and JPEG compression means.”
- US patent 6,972,790 (the “790” patent) entitled “Host interface for imaging arrays.” was assigned to Canada based Psion Teklogix Inc. in September 2005 who specialise in radio frequency data communications.
- US patent 8,645,500 (the “500” patent) entitled “Method and system for communicating between a remote printer and a server,” was filed by Intellectual Ventures, LLC in April 2011 and who “create, incubate, and commercialise impactful inventions.”
- US patent 9,983,836 (the “836” patent) entitled “Method and system for communicating between a remote printer and a server,”
Cedar Lane claims that Pantum has been directly infringing claims of the above patents.
Cedar Lane was assigned the 527 and 790 patents in May 2019. Since then, they have filed 38 complaints in the United States alleging infringement of the 527 patent and 46 complaints alleging infringement of the 790 patent.
The 500 patent was assigned to Cedar Lane in August 2020. They have filed one complaint in the United States alleging infringement of the 500 patent. The 836 patent was granted in May 2018 and assigned to Cedar Lane in August 2020. Since then, they have filed three complaints in the United States alleging infringement.
The complaint, filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas and Cedar Lane is seeking judgement against Pantum that they have infringed Cedar Lane patents. They are also seeking damages and costs and interest on the damages.
