OWA warns of hazardous imports

The ink and toner cartridge brand calls for consumer caution over counterfeit goods.
OWA, a brand under the French remanufacturer Altkin – Armor Print Services, has taken to LinkedIn to highlight potential dangers of non-compliant imported products flooding online marketplaces.
With a focus on both consumer safety and business risk, the brand points to a recent study by 60 Millions de Consommateurs which found that eight out of ten toys bought from major internet sites, including Temu, Alibaba, and Amazon, failed to meet European safety standards, posing significant risks to children.
Expanding on the issue, OWA suggests that it is not only toys that carry these hazards. “The situation is not much different for imported, cheap printer cartridges,” the company notes, adding that non-compliant printer cartridges—frequently labelled as “clone” cartridges—may attract buyers with their low price points but come with hidden costs.
Many of these inexpensive cartridges from Chinese manufacturers, OWA says, bypass safety checks, are not certified under EU regulations, and could even release harmful chemicals in the workplace. The use of non-compliant cartridges may also void equipment warranties, adding an extra layer of risk for businesses relying on these products.
For OWA, the risks underscore the importance of prioritising quality and compliance. “With OWA, we are committed to providing high-quality remanufactured cartridges. We comply with strict European standards and certifications (REACH, RoHS, and ISO standards, DIN 33870…), and offer warranties beyond the manufacturer’s guarantee,” the LinkedIn post states.
