Officeworks raises money for charities

This year’s Officeworks Make a Difference Appeal has raised more than AU$950,000 ($643,383/ €581,573) for local causes across the country, with more than AU$5 million ($3.4 million/ €3.1 million) raised through the annual Appeal since its launch in 2018.

The 2023 Appeal focused on supporting charities that enabled children to learn, create and connect for a sustainable future. Officeworks store teams selected the organisations they wanted to support, based on what felt most relevant to their local communities with 15 local community organisations supported by this year’s initiative.

Through the month of June, customers were encouraged to donate to support their local charity at check out in-store and online. Together, Officeworks, store teams and customers raised funds for the following community organisations:

  • Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation
  • Mirabel Foundation
  • Lighthouse Foundation
  • Sister2Sister
  • EatUp
  • Brighter Access
  • Care Kits for Kids QLD
  • Make A Wish Foundation
  • Busy Schools
  • Talk Out Loud
  • Operation Sunshine WA
  • Teach Learn Grow
  • Learning Links
  • Zoos Victoria
  • Lids4Kids

Officeworks Managing Director, Sarah Hunter, said: “Now in its sixth year, the funds raised by our annual Officeworks Make a Difference Appeal will help to ensure these organisations can continue the important work they do in our local communities, providing them with integral resources needed to create a more sustainable future for Australian kids.

“It’s been a tough year for many so the work these local organisations do is more important than ever. We are so proud of our customers and Officeworks teams for their fundraising efforts, helping make a positive difference in Australian children’s lives by helping them to learn, create and connect.”

CEO of the Make A Wish Foundation, a 2023 Make a Difference Appeal charity partner, Sally Bateman said: “We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Officeworks, and we are grateful to the dedicated Officeworks team and customers who’ve made this fundraiser possible. Together, through the Make a Difference Appeal, we are able to make more wishes possible for critically ill children across Australia.”

Celebrating its sixth year, the Make a Difference Appeal forms part of Officeworks’ People and Planet Positive Plan commitment of raising AU$5 million ($3.4 million/ €3.1 million) for local causes between 2020 and 2025. To date, more than AU$5.2 million ($3.5 million/ €3.2 million) has been raised through the annual Make a Difference Appeal since 2018.
