New HP research revealed office workers’ longing appreciation for technology and their IT department
In a new blog, HP revealed the results of its latest survey. The OEM polled 1,000 office workers in the US and Canada to find out what they appreciate (and miss) most about the office.
According to the blog, office workers as “it turns out what they really miss is printing”. According to HP’s survey, “more than half of respondents (57%) miss access to a printer more than happy hour with colleagues, followed by access to a scanner (56%) and free lunch on-site (55%).”
HP said: “This trend will be a key consideration for companies as they reconfigure the role of the office, from employee experience to the physical layout. The interest in access to office technology will be an important factor for IT departments as they re-evaluate office needs and plan for the next phase of hybrid work.”
Further findings were “that flexible work would not be possible without the IT department” and respondents calling IT decision makers (ITDM) the “new office superheroes”.
A top concern remains cybersecurity in digitalisation and hybrid working environments. HP explained: “Although a majority of ITDMs feel that their company’s technology works seamlessly in a flexible environment, privacy and security concerns are increasing. The survey found that 67% of ITDMs feel privacy and security in a flex work environment has become more complex, especially when it comes to printer security.”
