OEMs scoop BLI awards

January 14, 2019

Following the news of Sharp and Brother’s wins last week, Canon and Lexmark have also scooped their own accolades from Keypoint Intelligence – Buyers Lab.

Canon won its two awards for Information Governance, with its Therefore 2018, and Cloud Output Management Solutions, with its uniFLOW Online.

“Buyers Lab analysts and lab technicians looked at dozens of document imaging solutions in the past year, and each of them delivered tangible strengths for its intended market, says Jamie Bsales, Director, Solutions Analysis at Keypoint Intelligence. “Those honoured today, however, proved themselves to be among the best in their categories thanks to an impressive mix of productivity-enhancing features, value for the dollar, ease of use for end users and IT administrators, and other key attributes.”

Therefore™ 2018, Canon’s exclusive-premier information management, workflow, and business analytics platform stands out, according to Buyers Lab analysts, for its information security and information governance abilities. The outstanding information management platform includes data storage security features that can assist users with their compliance efforts when transmitting, receiving, maintaining, retaining, collaborating, and deleting business information. Features also allow companies to find, store, and catalog the personal data retained in compatible systems and tools which may help organisations with certain aspects of reporting and assessment requirements.

uniFLOW Online, a cloud output and scan management platform, delivers essential print, capture, and routing features in an online service. Information gathered can be used by an organisation to identify where print-related cost savings can be made, and the service’s pull-printing feature allows a user to send a print job and release it at any compatible device on the network. The cloud-based architecture eliminates the need to purchase, deploy, and maintain a server for the application, and customers can always have the latest software in force without having to update the program.

“Cloud and security solutions will both be pivotal in 2019,” says Shinichi Yoshida, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “We are honoured to receive recognitions in two categories that will be largely influential in shaping the future workplace and helping our clients to more seamlessly conduct business.”

As for Lexmark, the OEM has won BLI’s prestigious 2019 Printer/MFP Line of the Year award. Presented once a year, Line of the Year awards honour those manufacturers’ product lines that are determined to be the best overall based on the cumulative test results of all models tested in Buyers Lab’s rigorous two-month laboratory evaluation. The selections are made by Buyers Lab’s highly experienced staff of technicians and analysts after subjecting scores of devices from every major OEM to exhaustive, comprehensive lab tests.

Based on the strength and breadth of the range of Lexmark’s printers and MFPs tested, Lexmark has earned BLI’s 2019 Printer/MFP Line of the Year. All 13 products tested for the Winter 2019 season have earned Buyers Lab’s Highly Recommended rating and have gone on to win Pick awards.

“From small office to enterprise environments, Lexmark has a printer or MFP designed to meet the complex needs, and budget, of the modern workplace,” said Marlene Orr, Keypoint Intelligence’s Director of Printer & MFP Analysis. “Lexmark devices are built on a solid foundation of excellent reliability and impressive user-friendliness, featuring an intuitive design with smart technology that can help simplify even the most complicated workflows. This translates to maximum uptime and worker productivity. When you add in a robust portfolio of software, low running costs, and cutting-edge security features, like firmware integrity checking and intrusion detection, Lexmark is the clear choice for the Buyers Lab’s 2019 Printer/MFP Line of the Year.”

“It is an honour to receive the Keypoint Intelligence 2019 Line of the Year award for our colour and monochrome printer and MFP lines,” said Allen Waugerman, Lexmark Senior Vice President and CTO. “The Lexmark team pushed the envelope in 2018, refreshing over 90 percent of our product line to bring our customers the most durable, secure, and efficient devices ever. With this recognition and the tremendous response from our customers, we couldn’t be prouder.”
