OCP’s future secured

November 26, 2018

Following a turbulent period, during which the company stood on the brink of insolvency, the German ink manufacturer has announced a new beginning.

In a letter to its customers, the company revealed that thanks to asset acquisition and investment from the Senior team at Environmental Business Products Ltd., OCP’s future has been secured, following speculation last week that it was set to exit administration.

As a result, OCP GmbH will cease to operate, succeeded by OCP Ink Ltd. The production facility, as well as the team, its technical know-how, R&D laboratory, New Product Development, and Sales & Marketing departments will remain in Lage, Germany, OCP’s headquarters for nearly a quarter of a century.

General Manager Werner Rüegger wrote in the letter that “OCP Ink Ltd.’s first priority is to reinstate supply while also working to re-establish customer confidence, as we fully recognise that this is critical in achieving a win-win partnership under the new ownership. In line with this, we will be in contact within the next week to discuss timelines, your customer specific operational considerations and our immediate next steps together.”

Rüegger will continue as General Manager, in order to ensure “consistency in relationship and communication,” working closely alongside Finance Director Andrew Clarke and Purchasing Director Nazar Juma, “both long-standing senior members of EBP.”

EBP was described by Rüegger as “one of Europe’s most significant and well-respected inkjet cartridge remanufacturers,” which for more than 25 years has supplied private label inkjets to “the most reputable market leaders,” including Office Depot, Q-Connect, and InkClub. EBP also supplies inkjets and toners under the “globally renowned household brand” Polaroid.

“As you will appreciate, we are all extremely energised about this new platform and are very much looking forward to reigniting what is recognised as market-leading, highest quality ink supplies for both the Inkjet and Textiles Industries,” Rüegger continued. “Your continued loyalty and patience is greatly appreciated. Please rest assured that we will do everything humanly possible to speedily and proficiently regain confidence in the ongoing supply of OCP’s iconic branded products.”
