NZ Ministry reinstates Fuji Xerox
April 16, 2019
Two years after the infamous accounting scandal which affected Fuji Xerox in New Zealand and Australia, the company has been reinstated by New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
As Stuff reports, Fuji Xerox was originally removed by the Ministry from a panel of suppliers selling copiers and printers to government agencies, but now the ban is being lifted.
“Having considered a range of factors including Fuji Xerox’s performance and remediation actions over the course of the suspension, New Zealand Government Procurement (NZGP) has decided to lift the formal suspension of Fuji Xerox under the print technology and associated services ‘all-of Government’ contract on probationary terms,” said a spokesman for the Ministry.
Fuji Xerox’s reinstatement will be effective from the beginning of May.
However, it seems there is still “ill feeling” within the office products industry against Fuji Xerox in the wake of the scandal, which meant the company “was forced to rework its New Zealand accounts for the years from 2011 through to 2016 after booking sales ahead of its time, in a move that it believes boosted incentives paid to its local management.”
In 2017, following the renewal of an investigation into the company by the Serious Fraud Office, several Fuji Xerox executives in New Zealand departed their positions at the company, including the company’s Chairman.
