New toner tank printers from HP?
May 29, 2019
The Recycler understands that HP will shortly introduce new printers featuring a toner tank and other advanced features as part of the instant ink programme and these printers will be available via Amazon.
HP recently briefed partners and analysts about the proposed launch of new laser printers in Europe featuring a toner tank, as opposed to a regular cartridge. The printers will be found exclusively on HP’s managed portfolio, offering a service-optimised experience designed for HP Managed Print Specialist Premier and Select contractual partners.
This is not new, since rumours about the toner tank option was already around as early as 2015.
Some of the features expected in the new printer series include cartridge access control that secures the cartridge access panel and ensures all toner is used before a cartridge can be replaced. Printers will also have the strongest print security to help protect customer’s devices, data and documents.
As previously briefed by HP new printers will include the new “futureSmart” technology that across enterprise and managed printer and multifunction fleet, A4 and A3 devices will enable the innovative new HP custom colour manager with real-time preview to quickly create colour adjustments and fast fleet deployment of colour profiles. More than a dozen additional new features – including advanced copier features like Expert Copy for the power user and serverless job accounting.
HP contract partners will also be offered the new LaserJet 600 Series features industry-first innovations for A4 devices, enabling HP’s managed partners to increase their services margin utilising:
- Cartridge Access Control – secures the cartridge access panel and ensures all toner is used before a cartridge can be s replaced.
- Fixed tray guides – help reduce a managed partner’s highest call incident – paper jams.
- Predictive Sensors embedded within the device, combined with Cartridge Access Control, can save partners utilising HP SDS, up to 17 percent in service costs.
A Spanish dealer we spoke with who had been briefed by HP, was concerned that some of these products would be offered via the HP instant ink (or toner?) programme and also via Amazon.
