New subscription-based GeekCover by Officeworks

Australian retailer Officeworks launches a new subscription-based tech support service called GeekCover, in partnership with Geeks2U.
Australia’s specialist retailer Officeworks has launched a country wide tech support service called GeekCover. The tech support will be delivered by Geeks2U who Officeworks acquired in March 2019.
In May Officeworks published a report on the growth of home working in Australia. In response GeekCover will provide their services households and businesses.
For households there is a monthly subscription of AU$9.95 (US$6.9/ €6) per month and covers unlimited and remote support for up to 4 computers laptops and there is no limit on other devices (e.g. tablets, smart phones) subject to the Officeworks Fair Play policy. On-site support costs $79 (US$55/ €48) per hour with a $49 (US$34/ €30) surcharge for same day service, weekends and public holidays.
For business users the monthly subscription is AU$19.95 (US$14/ €12) per month and covers unlimited and remote support for one computer/laptop per user and there is no limit on other devices (e.g. tablets, smart phones) subject to the Officeworks Fair Play policy. A one hour on-site IT health check (per business) and an audit of your internet network performance, review of your security/password protocols and data backup recommendations. On-site support costs $79 (US$55/ €48) per hour. A same day service fee is $29 (US$20/ €18) and there is a $49 (US$34/ €30) surcharge for weekends and public holidays.
Both programmes include email alerts with critical security updates and recommendations in the event of widespread virus or cyberattacks.
