Multiple cartridge removal requests from Canon

Canon’s campaign against online patent infringement showed no signs of slowing down over the Easter period, with 6 sets of Report Infringement Forms filed with different branches of Amazon.
Half of the forms were filed with Amazon.co.uk and half were filed with Amazon Italy.
The forms filed with Amazon.co.uk included one based on the alleged use of claim 1 and 25 of the U.K. portion of Canon’s European Patent EP 2 087 407 regarding the cartridge model “CF280X” offered by Tito-Express IP & Marketing GmbH under the ASIN B00B7L799Q. Amazon took down the respective product following Canon’s filing. This product is compatible with the OEM HP cartridge model CF280X and provides inter alia a non-OEM coupling member, a non-OEM drum as well as a non-OEM housing.
Also filed was a form based on the alleged use of claims 1 and 2 of the UK portion of Canon’s European Patent EP 1 977 289 (“EP ‘289”) regarding the cartridge models “CE320A”, “CE321A”, “CE322A”, and “CE323A” offered by AMZIC LTD under the ASIN B00ATD015M. Afterwards, Amazon took down the respective products which are compatible with the OEM HP cartridge models “CE320A”, “CE321A”, “CE322A”, “CE323A” and provide a non-OEM housing and a non-OEM force receiving device according to claim 1 of EP ‘289. Furthermore, they comprise an elastic portion according to claim 2 of EP ‘289.
Finally, Canon announced the filing of a Report Infringement Form with Amazon.co.uk based on the alleged use of claim 1 and 25 of the UK portion of Canon’s European Patent EP 2 087 407 regarding the cartridge model “CE505A” offered by Toner Lab di Issa Erminia under the ASIN B002GF11WS. Amazon took down the product, which is compatible with the OEM HP cartridge model CE505A and provides inter alia a non-OEM coupling member, a non-OEM drum as well as a non-OEM housing.
Among the forms filed with Amazon Italy was a report based on the alleged use of claim 1 and 25 of the Italian portion of Canon’s European Patent EP 2 087 407 regarding the cartridge model “CE505X” offered by Punto Rigenera S.R.L. under the ASIN B00OST3WWM. Amazon took down the respective product, which is compatible with the OEM HP cartridge model CE505X and provides inter alia a non-OEM coupling member, a non-OEM drum as well as a non-OEM housing.
Canon also filed a Report Infringement Form with Amazon Italy based on the alleged use of claims 1 and 2 of the Italian portion of Canon’s European Patent EP 1 977 289 (“EP ‘289”) regarding the cartridge model “CF210A” offered by PerfectPrint under the ASINs B00AIQ2AFY and 8182149290. Afterwards, Amazon took down the respective products. These products are compatible with the OEM HP cartridge model “CF210A” and provide inter alia a non-OEM housing and a non-OEM force receiving device according to claim 1 of EP ‘289. Furthermore, they comprise an elastic portion according to claim 2 of EP ‘289.
Finally, Canon has filed a Report Infringement Form with Amazon Italy based on the alleged use of claim 1 and 25 of the Italian portion of Canon’s European Patent EP 2 087 407 regarding the cartridge model “CE505X” offered by Inkpiu 1 di allegra natascia under the ASIN B00OST3WWM. Afterwards, Amazon took down the respective product, which is compatible with the OEM HP cartridge model CE505X and provides inter alia a non-OEM coupling member, a non-OEM drum as well as a non-OEM housing.
