MPS insight from Cartridge World
April 12, 2018
Cartridge World has published a new blog explaining what you need to know about Managed Print Services.
The blog begins by asking if you really understand MPS, and what it can do for your business, before explaining that it “can help you gain control and visibility of your print infrastructure”, whilst reducing costs and increasing productivity. It adds that successful MPS “can also improve your environmental sustainability and improve document security.”
Next, it explains and defines MPS, and what it covers – including page output (including for mobile staff); office devices such as printers and scanners; a technical support and maintenance service, including IT help desk; and consumables and supplies, such as ink and toner.
The blog speculates that your total printing costs can often represent as much as 15 percent of your annual outlay, which is usually third behind rent and payroll. It also claims that “outsourcing print management to an MPS provider has been shown to reduce costs by as much as 30 percent almost immediately.”
However, it stipulates that MPS “is about more than managing printers,” asserting that the best providers will also assist in streamlining processes, and improving workflows and productivity. They will thoroughly assess your existing print set-up, determining areas where savings can be made straightaway – such as inefficient devices which could be upgraded.
Further to this, according to the blog, good MPS providers will help monitor and optimise your end-to-end print output; proactively solve problems before they hinder productivity; reduce your waste, and ergo your carbon footprint; provide heightened print security for mobile staff; and automate document workflows to improve efficiency.
You can read the blog for yourself in full, here, or other similar postings discussing common problems, colour printing, and outsourcing.
