Mito rewrites labelling rules

Jun 12, 2025

Mito’s laser-etched cartridges combine durability, security and sustainability in one bold step.

A leap in cartridge identification is turning heads: laser etching is eliminating labels — and the waste that comes with them. Mito has unveiled cartridges marked directly onto their housings using high-precision laser technology.

The marks are permanent, resistant to heat, friction and oil, and outlast traditional labels by the full life of the cartridge.

The process is also tamper-proof. With no label to peel and each mark paired with a blockchain-linked QR code, counterfeiting becomes virtually impossible. That is good news for brand protection and customer trust.

Environmental benefits are equally stark. By removing adhesive labels entirely, Mito claims this can eliminate 1.2 tonnes of label waste annually — reducing both material costs and environmental impact.

This ‘zero-waste’ approach positions laser etching not just as a technical upgrade, but a sustainability benchmark for the remanufacturing industry.
