Man that stole cartridges, sentenced to jail
April 3, 2023
A man that worked for the Casino Regulatory Authority (CRA) in Singapore, has been sentenced for stealing cartridges from his employer and selling them online.
Zulkiflie Yacob commited the crime during his employment with the CRA during April 2016 and October 2018. He deliberately ordered too many cartridges and sold the over stock online for his own benefit.
He was arrested in March 2020 but was released on bail immediately. Asia One reports that he “misappropriated more than 750 printer cartridges worth over $93,000 from the agency and sold them online.” Each cartridge is said to have been worth between $50 and $100.
Asia One wrote: “Defence lawyer Azri Imran Tan from IRB Law said that his client has completely handed over all benefits he received from the offences”, commenting in the sentence plea: “Zul wishes to explain that the restitution amount made is based on the amount of money he earned from selling the misappropriated toners and cartridges.”
