Lexmark has confirmed that a vulnerability has been identified in the Postscript interpreter in a suite of Lexmark devices.
Lexmark said that a buffer overflow has been identified in Postscript interpreter in various Lexmark devices. The vulnerability can be leveraged by an attacker to remotely execute arbitrary code on a device.
To determine a devices firmware level, Lexmark advises users to select the “Settings”->“Reports”->”Menu Setting Page” menu item from the operator panel.
If the firmware level listed under “Device Information” matches any level under “Affected Releases”, then upgrade to a “Fixed Release”. You can find the alert details and a the list of affected printers here.
