Lexmark MPS hits NHS in Liverpool

October 24, 2018

The OEM’s Managed Print Solution has been implemented by the Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust (LWH).

LWH is a specialist trust for women and babies, which delivers over 8,000 babies annually, as well as undertaking almost 10,000 gynaecological procedures and carrying out over 2,000 cycles of IVF per annum.

The new implementation of the MPS programme has provided LWH with a new fleet of output devices, which is set to streamline operational efficiencies and help to control costs, whilst simulatenously promoting sustainability.

The five-year Lexmark smart Managed Print Services agreement has seen Lexmark install a mix of A4 and A3, colour, mono and multifunction devices. The solution has consolidated devices by over 30 percent, reducing 251 devices to 168 whilst providing a platform, “on which to drive continuous improvement and control.”

“The Lexmark team were on hand to support us throughout the process and provide ideas and consultancy at every stage,” said Jaki Allen, Programme Director at Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust. “The system works well, and through robust governance and regular data analysis, Lexmark will make sure the programme continues to be a success.”

Long term efficiency has been “ensured,” as Lexmark MPS includes proactive consumable management for the replenishment of supplies and automated service reporting. LWH plans to use this project as a platform to adopt further “paper-light” initiatives through a modular approach.

This successful Lexmark implementation was recognised at the NHS in the North Excellence in Supply Awards, where LWH won the Excellence in Supplier Engagement category. The awards aim to promote and celebrate private sector organisations working in partnership with the NHS to deliver high quality, effective and efficient patient care that supports its aim of delivering more for less.

Martin Fairman, Managing Director of Lexmark International UK & Ireland, said: “Lexmark has more than 25 years’ experience in manufacturing, managing and servicing millions of output devices globally, placing them in some of the most complex network environments and varied physical conditions. We have adapted this experience to address the specific needs of the Healthcare sector, and that of the NHS, which continues to be faced with unprecedented financial and efficiency pressures. We take pride in the success of this partnership, and are delighted that the NHS in the North Excellence in Supply Awards recognised the engagement with the project at LWH. Our team will continue to work closely with LWH to deliver incremental gains in line with both their financial targets and digital roadmap as this develops.”
