Lexmark anticipating South African growth
March 1, 2018
Following a positive end to last year, the OEM is looking forward to a successful 2018 in EMEA.
Lexmark’s EMEA Regional Director, Danny Molhoek, is predicting growth in the South African printing market in 2018, reports My Broadband.
The OEM has seen strong growth throughout Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and although the market in South Africa has been in decline over the last two years, a reverse of this is forecast in 2018 by the IDC.
According to Molhoek, the increase is being driven by demand for colour laser devices, which grew 9 percent over the last 12 months.
There have also been political changes occurring in the nation, that have had the effect of strengthening the rand and creating a more optimistic economic outlook.
Molhoek believes all this, combined with a raft of imminent new products, means there are reasons to be cheerful, for Lexmark.
“Later in the year, we will see the largest new product launch I have ever seen,” he explained. “In South Africa, our pace picked up quite late in the year and that wasn’t enough to compensate the slow start we had in 2017. However, we finished well and are off to a good start in 2018. I am very optimistic for our results this year.”
He added: “Lexmark managed to keep a stable number three on the market with 15.7% market share in Q3 2017, and has a great colour portfolio to ensure we meet the needs of the South African market.”
