Konica Minolta reports revenue hike

The OEM has released its consolidated financial results for FY 2018, concluding 31 March, and has revealed a rise in revenue from FY 2017.
Konica Minolta has recorded FY 2018 revenue of ¥1.03 trillion ($9.4 billion/€7.8 billion), an increase of 7.1 percent from FY 2017, when the OEM reported revenue of ¥962.5 billion ($8.7 billion/€7.3 billion).
The OEM also saw a rise in operating profit, reporting ¥53.8 billion ($491.1 million/€409.6 million) for FY 2018, an increase of 7.4 percent from the last financial year, when operating profit was reported at ¥50.1 billion ($457.3 million/€381.5 million).
Konica Minolta gave its profit for the year as ¥32.2 billion ($293.9 million/€245.2 million), an increase of 2.3 percent from FY 2017.
The OEM explained that, in its Office division, “favourable sales of A3 colour models continued, primarily for high-speed models, while sales of high-speed A3 colour models grew year on year in Europe.”
In addition, in China, the OEM reported that “sales rose significantly due to the shift to high-speed A3 colour models while sales year on year declined overall.”
Sales to existing customers were described as “robust” and the OEM also reported an increase in “major new projects.”
Looking ahead to FY 2019, the OEM has forecast a revenue increase of 4.7 percent, expecting to achieve ¥1.08 trillion ($9.8 billion/€8.2 billion). This is in addition to a predicted rise in operating profit of 11.4 percent, with Konica Minolta expecting to amass ¥60 billion ($547.7 million/€456.9 million).
