It’s official: European products, big on quality, low on price
July 31, 2018
Stiftung Warentest, the German consumer test magazine ran tests on alternative cartridges versus OEM products, and the results make pleasing reading for remanufacturers.
The key result established by the magazine was that customers can save on cost without sacrificing quality, after positive showings for third party cartridges tested, including those from Peach, KMP, Armor and others.
OEM cartridges tested included products from Brother, Canon, Epson, and HP; they were pitted against the aftermarket cartridges in categories including cost, cost savings, quality, print quality, and handling.
The magazine found that “sometimes, the foreign cartridges are just as good as the original ink,” and that “there are often good alternatives to the original cartridges, where users sometimes have to pay up to 80 percent less.”
Furthermore, it stipulated that for Brother printers, alternatives from Agfaphoto and Peach were the best recommendation, whilst cartridges from Armor and Edding were “the best alternatives” for a Canon device. For Epson printers, meanwhile, “the best quality replacement cartridges come from KMP, which costs up to 40 percent less.”
Responding to the findings, KMP itself declared that its cartridges were “the perfect alternative”, particularly to the HP 302XL, and highlighted that users can get comparable quality to the original at 50 percent of the price.
