Indian Toners sees modest Q2 growth

November 7, 2024

Earnings rise amid steady toner demand, yet future growth remains a question.

Indian Toners & Developers Limited ITDL), a leading producer of toner powder for printers and copiers, reported modest growth for the second quarter and half-year ending September 30, 2024, with slight gains in sales, revenue, and net income that reflect stable demand in its core markets.

During the second quarter, sales increased to INR 400.50 million ($4.82 million / €4.57 million), up from INR 380.00 million, while revenue rose to INR 420.00 million ($5.05 million / €4.80 million) from INR 400.00 million the previous year. This steady rise suggests consistent market demand but indicates only moderate growth, as the toner industry faces competition from both domestic and international producers, particularly considering expanding options in compatible and remanufactured toner solutions.

The company’s net income climbed to INR 60.00 million ($723,000 / €688,000) from INR 55.00 million, illustrating effective cost control and operational efficiency despite modest revenue growth. Earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter also increased, with both basic and diluted EPS improving from INR 5.00 to INR 5.50, signalling a stable return for shareholders.

For the six-month period from April to September 2024, sales grew to INR 750.00 million ($9.04 million / €8.57 million) compared to INR 720.00 million in the previous year, while revenue rose from INR 750.00 million to INR 780.00 million ($9.40 million / €8.92 million). Net income for the half-year reached INR 115.00 million ($1.39 million / €1.32 million), up from INR 110.00 million, with basic and diluted EPS increasing to INR 10.50 from INR 10.00. This steady upward trend reinforces Indian Toners’ profitability in a competitive market.

The company’s results underscore its solid footing in toner production, which remains its core business. However, a more aggressive strategy may be required to sustain growth momentum and bolster shareholder value.
