Hubei Dinglong said: “We understand that environmentally safe and non-hazardous products are a critical requirement when developing colour chemical toners. In fact, we have followed these principles for many years in both developing aftermarket and OEM products.”
Hubei Dinglong also added that it noted the change of legislation that comes into effect on 1st October 2021 in regards to Titanium dioxide.
European Chemical Agency (ECHA) advised in February 2020 via a published delegated regulation, were it classified Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) as a suspected carcinogen (Category 2) via inhalation under its EU Regulation No 1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packing (CLP) of substances and mixtures.
This regulation comes into effect on 1 October 2021 when the CLP regulations require hazard labels on products containing hazardous substances or mixtures when put on the market to provide information to the consumer. The new legislation requires for any toner / toner cartridge sold that has 1% or above level of Titanium Dioxide has to now carry a pictogram warning label on the packaging/ product.
Hubei Dinglong Co., Ltd confirmed that none of the bulk toner the company manufactures has Titanium Dioxide in it at or above the 1% level.
The company said: “Like many toner producers we were aware of this change in advance and have worked hard to develop toners that are below the new legislation. We will continue to further reduce or even eradicate TiO2 in future products were possible.”
