HP rolls out latest firmware update

The Recycler has learned that on 1 December HP triggered a timed update of its firmware in its printers using HP90X and HP95X series cartridges.
The OEM warned consumers on 24 August, that from the 1st December 2020 HP 902, 903, 904, 905, 906XL, 907XL, 908XL, and 909XL cartridges with Warranty ends date of Apr 2021 or earlier might not be compatible with the following specific HP OfficeJet printers.
The latest firmware update issued by HP was issued on its Laser Jet devices that use HP90X/95X series cartridges. The firmware versions updated are 2024, 2025, 2026, 2039, 2042, 2043.
Apex told The Recycler that its newest solution, released in November does work with the latest firmware versions and have not been affected, however the company added that older replacement chips versions still in the market might be affected.
Earlier in November, Tradesupply issued a new firmware warning to customers about printers using HP CF540 & CF530 series cartridges.
The company wrote to its customers to make them aware that HP has released a new firmware update for its Color Laserjet Pro254dw, M280, M281, M153, M154, M180, M181, M254, M153, M154, M180, M181 series printers, which might affect the use of third party cartridges.
