In a nationwide operation, authorities in India seized counterfeit HP ink and toner cartridges worth Rs 30 crore ($3.64 million/ €3.33 million).

In a significant crackdown on counterfeit goods, law enforcement authorities in India, supported by HP’s Anti-Counterfeiting and Fraud (ACF) Programme, have seized counterfeit HP products valued at approximately Rs 30 crore ($3.64 million/ €3.33 million) between November 2022 and October 2023.

The seized items, primarily consisting of toner and ink cartridges, were intended for the market, posing a risk to unsuspecting consumers.

The Times of India reported the majority of these seizures occurred in Mumbai.

This initiative is part of HP’s broader strategy to combat the proliferation of counterfeit products, involving around 300 customer delivery inspections across India within the specified period. The operation not only prevents financial losses to the original manufacturer but also safeguards consumer trust in the products they purchase.
