Cambridge-based IT asset disposal company Greentec recently donated CA$10,000 (€6,762) donation to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region to help combat food insecurity.
This contribution will support the Community Food Assistance Network’s vital work in supporting individuals and families facing food insecurity across the region.
In addition to the corporate donation, Greentec’s employees donated more than CA$900 (€609) to The Cambridge Food Bank from their annual Christmas lunch and raffle.
“We are proud to support The Food Bank of Waterloo Region and the incredible work they do to provide nourishment to thousands of people in our community,” said Tony Perrotta, Greentec’s CEO in a press release. “Through this donation, we hope to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most, especially as we head into the winter months when the demand for food assistance tends to increase.”
In 2023-2024, The Food Bank of Waterloo Region served 73,615 individuals, providing food and resources to those facing challenges such as unemployment, rising living costs, and other economic pressures. The CA$10,000 (€ 6,762) donation from Greentec will directly support the purchase of food, as well as essential programmes and services that help ensure no one in the region goes hungry.
“We are very grateful for Greentec’s generous donation,” said Kim Wilhelm, CEO of The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. “This contribution will make a real difference in the lives of many individuals and families in our community. Every donation, big or small, helps us provide more food to those in need and ensures that we can continue to meet the growing demand.”
