GM Technology removes single-use plastics in its packaging
November 28, 2022
The company has recently improved its toner product packaging by removing the plastic bags.
A decision was made by GM Technology to replace the plastic bags used in the packaging of its remanufactured toner cartridges with completely biodegradable and ecological bags.
The company said: “GM Technology has always focused its entire business on sustainability and the circular economy, and this change affirms its commitment to protecting the environment.”
In the past, GM Technology packaged its toner cartridges in traditional clear plastic throwaway bags. In mid-November, the company began replacing these plastic bags with more sustainable bags made of biodegradable film and recyclable paper. The updated bags still feature a transparent portion, but it is made of vegetable cellulose film rather than plastic.
The company added: “By using natural materials such as wood and vegetable cellulose, this packaging is entirely ecological, recyclable, and biodegradable, allowing GM Technology to stop using single-use plastics during production.”
GM Technology anticipates saving around 10,000 plastic bags per week by upgrading its packaging, ensuring that its remanufactured toners are even more environmentally friendly.
“Although it is a small change, it has a large impact on the planet and reduces the company’s environmental impact significantly,” GM Technology concluded.
