Geehy and TELD sign strategic deal for EV charging chips.
Zhuhai Geehy Semiconductor Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Ninestar, has entered into a three-year strategic cooperation agreement with TELD New Energy, one of China’s largest electric vehicle charging network operators, in a move designed to accelerate the domestic development of key technologies for green transport and digital power.
The framework deal commits the two companies to joint research and development in microcontrollers (MCUs) and digital signal processors (DSPs) for charging infrastructure, as well as co-operation on market promotion and product testing.
China’s rapid electric vehicle adoption has outpaced charging infrastructure growth. More than 30m EVs are on the roads, yet only about 14.4 million charging units are installed nationwide.
The partnership seeks to address this gap by developing higher-performance, domestically designed control chips to underpin faster, more reliable charging networks.
Ninestar said the agreement aligns with its long-term strategy to strengthen high-value semiconductor products, though it cautioned that financial impacts cannot yet be determined. The announcement emphasised that further binding contracts would be required before revenues are booked.
