Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. of the Fujifilm Group has acquired Japan’s first “AAAis (Triple A)”, an information security rating for its digital colour MFP printers “Apeos Port” series, which the company says indicates compliance with the US security standard “NIST SP800-171”. did.
“NIST SP800-171” is a guideline that indicates security standards set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the United States. In order to comply with this standard, 110 high-level security requirements must be met.
The US Department of Defense is making it mandatory for trading companies to comply with “NIST SP800-171”, and the level of security requirements in the procurement standards of the defense industry is increasing in Japan as well. In the future, there is a possibility that not only the defense industry but also companies expanding their business globally will be widely required to support “NIST SP800-171”, Fuji Xerox explained.
Fuji Xerox added: “We have investigated and analysed “NIST SP800-171” so far, and have complied with this standard from the product provided from November 2019 . Security measures have been further strengthened in the “Apeos Port” series of digital colour multifunction devices and printers, which went on sale in August 2020. This time, the measures for “NIST SP800-171” were rated as extremely high level, and we received the highest evaluation “AAAis (Triple A)” for the first time in Japan.”
