Etria rebrands Mitchell plant
October 15, 2024
Etria Products USA, a joint venture between Toshiba Tec and Ricoh, has rebranded its colour toner manufacturing plant in Mitchell, South Dakota.
The plant, formerly under the Toshiba name for 36 years, celebrated its new identity during National Manufacturing Week, marking a key milestone in the companies’ collaborative strategy.
Ricoh holds an 85% stake in Etria, with Toshiba Tec retaining 15%. This partnership aims to streamline manufacturing costs and resources while enhancing production capabilities. Etria’s Mitchell facility remains the largest U.S. producer of Toshiba colour toner, employing 95 people and producing over 1,200 metric tons of toner annually.
Etria’s rebranding does not alter its product lines, as multifunction printers will continue under Toshiba and Ricoh branding. The company’s goal is to expand its toner business by 30% over the next five years, reflecting ambitions to solidify its market leadership.
Local community leaders, including South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, praised the plant’s economic contributions and strong ties to the region.
The Mitchell plant is one of nine global production sites.
