ETIRA nominates new President
May 30, 2018
The remanufacturing trade association has announced that David Connett has been nominated as the current incumbent Christian Wernhart will step down in June, to be replaced by the former Editor of The Recycler.
Christian Wernhart has declared his intention to step down from the Presidency of ETIRA, after more than a decade at the helm of Europe’s leading remanufacturing trade association. According to an announcement, Wernhart “felt that it was time to hand over the baton,” having first taken it up twelve years ago.
ETIRA’s Board of Directors, which thanked Wernhart for his “great work,” has nominated well-known industry veteran David Connett as Wernhart’s successor. Connett, who previously served as Publisher and Managing Editor of leading industry magazine The Recycler, has been Vice-President of ETIRA for the last thirteen years, and was described by ETIRA as being “very well-placed to steer the association through its next growth phase.”
“It is an enormous honour to be nominated as the next President of ETIRA, and I would like to thank the outgoing President, Christian Wernhart, for the work he and the board have undertaken over the last twelve years of his leadership,” declared Connett. “It is clear that the industry is in a period of transition and new market dynamics are emerging that present challenges and opportunities across the sector. I look forward to working with members and the wider industry to navigate the challenges and maximise all the possible opportunities for ETIRA members.”
Connett is expected to be formally elected at ETIRA’s Annual General Meeting in Budapest next month, which corresponds with The Recycler Live, the continent’s premier office imaging conference, which will feature some of the biggest names in the aftermarket coming together to network and share their insight and wisdom.
Philippe Guenin is also stepping down from ETIRA’s Board of Directors, with CR-Solutions International’s Florian Werthmann nominated to replace him as a regular Member. Christian Wernhart, meanwhile, is due to stay on the Board as a regular Member.
