Equine fun and fundraising for Canon

September 21, 2018

The Canon Solutions America Photo Booth

Canon Solutions America, Inc. has announced its involvement in the 2018 Inaugural LIU Classic Polo Match & Lawn Party, held 15 September at the historic Meadowbrook Polo Club in Old Westbury, NY.

The event, attended by over 400 guests, raised awareness of and financial support for Long Island University’s (LIU Post’s) equestrian and veterinary programs. On a beautiful, sunny afternoon, attendees enjoyed many fun activities, including a polo match, luncheon, vendor booths, and a silent auction.

“LIU Post did a wonderful job on this event—it was a great accomplishment, and everyone enjoyed a wonderful day,” said Pete Kowalczuk, President of Canon Solutions America. “I was very pleased that they invited us to participate in the very first LIU Classic, and I look forward to taking part in future events to support our dedicated customer, LIU Post, for years to come.” Canon Solutions America provides print management services to LIU Post, and, according to the OEM, this event is representative of the many ways the company seeks to develop strong relationships with its customers and align with them on important initiatives outside of the typical vendor/client relationship.

Guests who visited the Canon Solutions America booth were invited to have their pictures taken by a professional photographer, with the photo then printed immediately on the SELPHY CP1300 Compact Photo Printer. Canon U.S.A. collaborated in providing the service by supplying the SELPHY as well as the Canon IVY Mini Photo Printer, a pocket-size device that offers customisation and printing of photos from smartphones and social media.

“The Canon photo booth was a blast! Everyone loved getting a professionally printed photo right there, to take home with them,” said Jessica Sulkers, LIU Post student, Master’s in Business Administration, Class of 2020. “This is my first event coordinating internship, and I am grateful to LIU for the opportunity.”

All proceeds from the event will benefit LIU Post’s new Veterinary Technology Program, which opened this fall, as well as its Equine Studies Program. The Veterinary Technology Program is the first such four-year program on Long Island, and the Equine Studies Program prepares students interested in pursuing careers in stable or racetrack management, as riding instructors, and more.

“We are grateful to Senator Marcellino for his hard work to secure funding to help build this transformative project,” said LIU President Dr. Kimberly Cline. “We continue to be heartened by the strong community support for building our region’s first College of Veterinary Medicine.”
