Epson’s MFP’s recognised for energy efficiency

Epson’s linehead inkjet multifunction printers have been recognised for excellence in energy efficiency and conservation.
Seiko Epson Corporation and Epson Sales Japan Corporation announced that Epson’s WorkForce Enterprise LM-C6000, LM-C5000, and LM-C4000 linehead inkjet multifunction printers have won the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy Commissioner’s Award (Product & Business Model Category) under the fiscal 2023 Grand Prize for Excellence in Energy Efficiency and Conservation awards programme organised by the Energy Conservation Centre, Japan.
Multifunction office printers with printing speeds of 30-59 pages per minute (ppm) are in the volume zone of the market. This zone has traditionally been occupied primarily by laser printers, which consume considerable electricity because they use heat to fuse toner to the paper. In contrast, Epson’s linehead inkjet multifunction printers employ energy-saving Heat-Free technology to eject ink.
This technology, along with PrecisionCore printheads fabricated using state-of-the-art high-precision processing technology, enable the printers to deliver images of remarkable quality at high speed. Meanwhile, a new circuit unit reduces power consumption in sleep mode and during operation.
The LM-C6000, which prints at 60 ppm, has a typical electricity consumption (TEC) value of 0.25 kWh, which is 39% less than the previous model and 437%4 of the energy-saving standard. The new MFPs also have a more compact design, with a 35%5 smaller footprint than the previous model3 thanks to new lineheads that have a higher nozzle density and an optimized paper path.
Yoichi Yamada, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Printing Solutions Operations Division commented, “We have continuously sought to contribute to social sustainability through inkjet innovations that reduce the environmental impact of offices while also offering our customers greater convenience. This award, received for products that represent an advancement from the LX series products that won the Director-General’s Prize in 2018, is hugely inspiring. We will continue to offer a variety of innovative products and services that meet the requirements of the times.”
