Seiko Epson Corporation has made an announcement explaining the impact of the recent Hokkaido earthquake.

Via the OEM’s official company website, Epson stated, “Epson would like to extend its deepest sympathies to those affected by the large earthquake that struck the eastern Iburi region of Hokkaido in northern Japan on 6 September.

As a result of the earthquake, production at the Seiko Epson Chitose Plant, where Epson manufactures some of its high-temperature polysilicon TFT projector panels, has been suspended. Although there was no significant damage to the buildings, we discovered malfunctions in certain production equipment when we carried out inspections after the electricity supply was restored. We expect to resume production in the beginning of October.

No Epson employees suffered injuries as a result of the earthquake.”
